Future mathematics teachers for all types of schools are trained in Erlangen and Nuremberg. Depending on the type of school, the standard duration of study is seven or nine semesters. For more detailed information on teacher training programs, please visit our page on teacher training programs.
The bachelor’s programs in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Economics, and Data Science provide students with foundational knowledge and basic skills in mathematics and one or two minor subjects over the course of three years. With these degrees, graduates can either enter the workforce directly or apply for admission to one of the many promising master’s programs in Erlangen and Nuremberg or at other universities.
In the master’s programs in Mathematics, Mathematical Economics, Computational and Applied Mathematics, or Data Science, students acquire, over the course of two years, the additional skills necessary for independent and self-directed academic work.
The following links provide further information on the structure and organization, admission requirements (e.g., required German language proficiency), as well as the application and enrollment process for our Master’s programs in Mathematics, Mathematical Economics, CAM and Data Science.
Before beginning a master’s program in the Department of Mathematics, each student must designate a mentor from the department’s faculty, with whom an individual study plan for the master’s program will be developed.
A proposed mentor must be specified in the electronic application for the master’s program, along with the specialization within the chosen program.
Applications for the master’s programs are submitted via the Campo application portal. The SSC Mathematics is happy to assist you with applications for a master’s program.
Since the 2009–10 winter semester, an additional program with mathematics components has been offered as part of the “Integrated Life Sciences – Biology, Biomathematics, Biophysics” degree program
